Our opinion
The Cotton House is enticing and pampers guests with it's serenity and grace.
Hotel description
This wonderful hotel is often referred to as the ‘perfect retreat’ and the ‘perfect beach hotel,’ and continues to entice guests with its serenity and grace. The hotel was originally an 18th century coral warehouse and sugar mill, and many of the original features and furnishings have been retained during its restoration, so that it now combines a historical ambience with the amenities that a highly discerning contemporary traveller demands. At the heart of the Cotton House is the Great Room, reminiscent of a bygone era and surrounded by a dining veranda, charmingly romantic in the evenings with candlelight and music. The Cotton House’s grounds extend to the beach, where guests can enjoy a range of water sports. Panoramic views of the island can be enjoyed by the side of the swimming pool, where at night you can watch the sunset. Fine dining is ensured by the chef, who utilises the freshest ingredients from the Caribbean, combined with imported delicacies from all over the world. Guests can picnic on a private beach, take a boat tour, or hire a mule (jeep) to explore the island. The hotel prides itself on attention to detail and in making the world’s most sophisticated travellers feel pampered; this is highlighted by the unpacking and pressing service on arrival, and the pillow menu that offers eleven different types of pillow. There are just seventeen guest rooms at the Cotton House, all of which are beautifully furnished and have a private patio, terrace or wrap-around veranda from which to enjoy the views. The Deluxe rooms have a particularly superb position that is best enjoyed as the sun sets against the panoramic profiles of the nearby islands. With four poster beds draped in netting and a private plunge pool, these are the most romantic and highly sought-after rooms in the hotel. A serene and graceful hotel that is perfect for the discerning traveller.
