Le Choiseul is an elegant hotel with 30 rooms and suites, situated in the pretty château-town of Amboise on the banks of the River Loire, just beneath the chateau of Amboise. The building dates from the 18th Century and is typical of many elegant houses of the region, with white-washed walls and grey slate roof. There is a main residence housing the hotel reception, lounges, restaurant and some rooms, and the other bedrooms are scattered between smaller houses in the gardens. An attractive feature of the hotel is the fact that the individual buildings each have their own little garden areas in front or near them so that you have the feeling of grass, flowers and trees wherever you are. The hotel has a one Michelin star restaurant, attractively situated on the first floor of the hotel with views to the front over the Loire and the garden. Bedrooms vary in size but are traditionally furnished in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The overall atmosphere is one of quality but at the same time relaxed, cosy and traditional.
From 1 October 2024, the hotel will be closed for renovation for 18 months and is scheduled to reopen in May 2026.
Room descriptions
Le Choiseul has 30 rooms and suites split between three buildings: the Maison de l'Ermite, the Maison du Duc and the Maison de l'Apothicaire. Rooms have air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi access, television, safe, mini-bar, bath-robes, hair-dryer, room service.

The journey and how you get there
For a holiday to Le Choiseul, our clients usually arrive in their own car on a self-drive holiday, either to visit the hotel in its own right or as part of a multi-centre touring holiday. We include a Eurotunnel crossing or a ferry crossing, depending on what you would like to do and what is most appropriate to your overall journey. It is also possible to visit the region of the Loire Valley by flying to Paris, Tours or Nantes or by taking the Eurostar to Paris or Lille and then TGV to Tours, and then hiring a car. We will arrange this for you.

Children: Children are welcome. Children under 12 stay for free when sharing a room with their parents (one child per room). A children's menu is available for children aged 11 and under, with seperate lighter menu options for ages 0-5 years. Baby sitting is available on request but must be booked in advanced and is charged. Leisure activities are aimed at children from ping-pong, bicycles, parlour games and swimming. Special equipment is available for families with young children - high chairs, bottle warmer and baby phone. A VIP children's snack may also be purchased on arrival.

About Loire Valley
An Expressions tailor-made holiday to the Loire Valley offers travellers a chance to explore this magnificent region, known as the `Garden of France`, traditionally the hunting grounds of the Kings of France, is renowned for its gentle countryside, vineyards, forests, rivers and numerous chateaux. It is very easy to reach the Loire Valley by train, combining a holiday here with a visit to Bordeaux. Alternatively, a self-drive holiday to the Loire Valley is an excellent option, allowing you to explore the region's Chateaux by car or to combine a stay in the region with a holiday to the Dordogne region and Normandy.
