Our opinion
The Terre Blanche Hotel and Spa Resort is a stunning, private oasis set on a magnificent Provencal estate. We would highly recommend the Terre Blanche to those looking for privacy, unbeatable luxury, and a huge range of recreational and relaxation activities.
Hotel description
The elegant five star Terre Blanche Hotel and Spa Resort, a
member of the Leading Hotels of the World, lies in a secluded area of Provence
just outside the quaint village of Fayence between St Tropez and Monaco. The
estate itself, abundant in green lawns and clusters of blooming trees, is
larger than the principality of Monaco itself, making this the perfect option
for couples, families, and groups of friends who relish a sense of privacy.
With stunning views over hills and villages to the mountains of the Alpes
Maritimes, the resort has 115 generously sized suites in villa-cottage style
buildings linked together by pretty, secluded walkways.
As the
estate is car-free, the grounds are kept exceptionally quiet and exceptionally
safe, with only the occasional passing hotel buggy to take you back to your
private room. Each suite at the Terre Blanche Resort is decorated with brightly
coloured rugs and striking, contemporary Provençal artworks. Terracotta floors
and a soothing, neutral colour palette invokes the traditional feeling of
Provence. All rooms have a living room area with sofa bed, and French doors
that open onto a private terrace where delightful views of the valley,
mountains, and villages beyond can be appreciated. A few years ago, the Terre
Blanche was under the management of Four Seasons; since going private, it has
regained some beautiful and unique French character. This is best seen in the
bedrooms and in the bathrooms, which now have toiletries that have been
especially crafted by local producers out of very quintessentially Provencal
ingredients, including lavender.
In the rooms or on their terraces,
guests can enjoy a private breakfast, lunch, or dinner at no extra charge. Some
suites can be connected with a one-bedroom villa to the side, or an upstairs
with private entrance, making this an ideal option for spacious family and
group accommodation. The gastronomic restaurant at the Terre Blanche Resort, Le
Faventia, is situated on a hilltop position and boasts glorious views over the
villages of Callian and Montauroux. Using fresh local ingredients, cuisine
served here is very Mediterranean, inspired by the region's culinary heritage,
and expertly cooked and prepared by a double-Michelin-starred chef. Guests can
also dine at Le Gaudina, a cosy dining terrace where creative food is
accompanied by art and music, or at Les Caroubiers, overlooking the golf
course.
At the 3,200 square metre spa and fitness
centre guests can enjoy massages and beauty treatments. The spa has 15
treatment rooms, housed in a building surrounded by lavender and designed in
the same elegant style as the main hotel building. Biomech equipment here
attracts famous athletes from across the world who are looking to improve their
technique, and can be utilised by hotel guests who would like to hone their
golf or tennis swing. Two 18-hole golf courses designed by
Dave Thomas offer some of the best year-round golfing in Europe. One of these
golf courses recently hosted the Golf World Championship, and is recognised as
one of the top 15 golf courses in the world; thus, we highly recommend the
Terre Blanche Hotel to avid golfers. Those less interested in golf need not be
worried about the imposition of the two courses and the Club House. The courses
sit at the very bottom of the resort, away from the cottages, and almost
entirely out of view. The sections of the green visible from the main resort
blend perfectly into the Provence landscape, however, with their rolling plains
and blue pools.
Other activities at the Terre
Blanche Resort that guests can enjoy include cooking courses and wine-tasting,
while the countryside of Provence provides the perfect setting for hiking,
mountain biking, and horse-riding. The outdoor infinity pool sits like a lake
in the centre of the resort, with an extensive pool deck and a whirlpool. Below
the edge of the pool, partially hidden by verdant trees and plants, there is a
children's pool.
The lake beside the resort is available for water
sports for guests of all ages, as are dirt buggy rides through the countryside.
Children are more than welcome at the Terre
Blanche. To one side of the resort, out of the way of the main areas used by
couples, there is a children's club. A variety of games and excursions are
available, most of which are included in the room rate. Beside the pool
restaurant, Le Tousco, there is a replica, but in miniature, specially designed
to give your little ones the experience of grown-up dining, but with a
specially crafted menu and toys at the tables.
With such a wide
range of activities, families and groups can find something to appeal to each
and every member, and so the Terre Blanche Hotel and Spa Resort lends itself to
long stays for families and couples with superb facilities for all to
enjoy.
