    Our opinion

A very personalised, intimate experience in a breath-taking, exclusive location.

    Hotel description

On the island’s most north-easterly point, the Paradise Cove boutique hotel is an adults-only retreat that harnesses tradition, style, and luxury. From the outside, the hotel channels authentic Mauritian architecture, with open-walled buildings topped with wooden roofs supported by pillars. The main lounges, bars, and restaurants look out onto the main pool, and a further restaurant-bar looks out over the new infinity pool on the Peninsula, which seems to drop off into the tropical landscape and ocean below. White parasols and individual ornate white gazebos sit beneath the tall swaying palm trees, capturing pockets of shade in the heat of the Indian Ocean. The warm and charming interiors have been heavily influenced by the style of the East India Company, particularly in the abundance of high quality carved wood on the floors, ceilings, and in the furnishings. The guestrooms centre upon a light and soft atmosphere, with delicate white canopies on four poster beds, muted blue feature walls, and carefully crafted wood and wrought iron. Each room has its own balcony or terrace that looks out either on the lush hotel gardens or the white sand of the cove. These views are some of the best and most coveted on the island. Dining at Paradise Cove is as luxurious as the stunning boutique-style rooms. The main restaurant is the Dining Room, where a bright interior room opens up onto a wide poolside terrace. Once again, white furniture is paired with local wood and brief touches of soothing colour. Choose from one of the many varied restaurant, or try a little of everything at the buffet. At the Cove, dine on exquisitely cooked seafood, sourced from the lagoon, under the thatched gazebos. With only 30 available seats, this is a highly exclusive restaurant. Asian fusion cuisine is served in the intimate XO Restaurant, featuring unique subtle flavours, such as bamboo hearts and citronella. Indigo Restaurant & Bar offers an alternative, casual dining experience overlooking the lagoon, as well as relaxing evening drinks. The S.T.A.Y Bar is a cosy venue with plush sofas and low-lighting to complement your signature cocktail. Sample some of the best rum in the world at the Rum Gallery, or wines in the S’Cellar. Spend one afternoon indulging in the treatments available at the Cinq Mondes Spa, in one of the open-air treatment rooms, soaking in a bath tub looking out onto a private courtyard, or taking a dip in the swimming pool. Complete your holiday with some of the complimentary water sports, tennis, yoga, or cultural excursions. Your one or two week stay at Paradise Cove will be both peaceful and relaxing and full of exciting cultural experience.

    Out and aboutnearby/local interest

Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius, and is constantly buzzing with cosmopolitan life and culture. The central market is the focal point for many visitors due to the vibrant experience it offers. Alternatively, visit the historic Champ de Mars, the Place d’Armes, the Statue of Mahe de la Bourdonnais, the Government House, Aapravasi Ghat, the Caudan Waterfront, and, of course, Fort Adelaide. In the north of the island, visit the stunning beachfront and quaint streets of Grand Bay, the picturesque village of Cap Malheureux, and the tropical plants at Les Vergers of Labourdonnais at Mapou and the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. For stunning seascapes and water sports, head to Ile aux Cerfs, home to extensive sandy beaches and a tortoise farm. Mahebourg is one of the main fishing villages on the island, home to the National History Museum and Cavendish Bridge, and was the site of the only Napoleonic naval victory over the English in 1810. For exceptionally calm waters, head to the west of the island. Swim in the waters beside the lighthouse in Albion, relax on the beach at Flic en Flac, or visit the villages of Tamarin and Black River. For cultural, historic towns, head inland towards Rose Hill, Quatre Bornes, and the Trou aux Cerfs volcano. Paradise Cove offers excursions to Cap Malheureux, the nearby Endemic Gardens, Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, and cycling tours, as well as a range of speedboat, yacht, and other boat cruises to nearby destinations.
