    Our opinion

The Residence is a stylish and serene spa hotel enjoying a magnificent beachfront location in Mauritius.

    Hotel description

The Residence Mauritius is a striking five star hotel occupying a position on a glorious stretch of white sand beach on the east coast of the island. The beach is an outstanding feature of the hotel, a kilometre long and of fine white sand flanked by a reef-protected turquoise sea.The hotel has an atmosphere that is both relaxed and calm, stylish and sophisticated, enhanced by the magnificent reception area, tall and white yet with an oriental feel created by huge wooden Indian wall carvings and splashes of colour created by the numerous plants. From the cool whites of the building you see through to the brilliant turquoise of the sea beyond the gardens. The bedrooms are all very spacious and are decorated in an understated, contemporary way, elegant and with high quality furniture, light in colour and discreet with natural fabrics. Large bathrooms are filled with exquisite toiletries for the ultimate experience in pampering. The Plantation restaurant is built in the style of a traditional Mauritian plantation house and serves superb seafood and Creole cuisine under the filao trees. Alternatively guests can head for the main building and enjoy the A la Carte lunch in the Verandah restaurant around the pool and overlooking the sea. Dinner can be enjoyed in the refined but relaxed ambience of The Dining Room, where local produce is imaginatively used with distinct Indian, Chinese and Creole accents. The Sanctuary Spa takes its inspiration from Zen philosophy, and combines with a splendid hotel to offer guests an experience of true luxury, serenity and relaxation.

    Other information

The east coast of Mauritius is well known for its beautiful beaches. The village of Flacq is located fifteen minutes by car from The Residence Mauritius and has the country’s largest open air market.

More than just a beauty centre, the Sanctuary Spa is a 600 square metre temple of serenity and relaxation. Drawing on the principles of Zen philosophy, it offers treatments for both body and soul. The gentle soothing aromas that greet you and the exotic furnishings with spice coloured drapes and curtains induce a sense of rest and wellbeing. A range of services including yoga, meditation, massages and beauty treatments are offered.

The Carita Haute Beauté concept was created in the 1960’s in Paris under the creative inspiration of two French sisters who were called “the magicians of beauty”. Carita is synonymous with luxury and innovation in the domain of beauty care. The Carita spirit, both innovative and daring, is perpetuated today through treatments of excellence provided by the “artisans of beauty” of La Maison de beauté Carita.

The Sanctuary has also introduced the Ytsara method, which means "freedom" in Thai, bringing together the knowledge of ethno-biologists and aromatherapy. This new holistic method of well-being and beauty was inspired
by centuries old therapeutic virtues of Asian remedies and techniques.

    Signature Treatments

Sculpting Gold Perfection Facial: After a long massage with the famous Rénovateur to eliminate all impurities from the skin, the beauty therapist’s expert hands deeply and actively massage to stimulate the
skin’s natural functions. Then a specific massage with the new Idéal Pro-Lift device, targeting facial contours, complements the remarkable effectiveness of this treatment.
Silk Revelation Harmonising Massage: Relax your mind and unleash your body's energy with this indulgent massage combining a delightful mix of varying rhythms and pressures. Thanks to the highly original texture
of Silk Balm, specifically developed for this treatment, the beauty therapist's expert hands glide over your body, leaving it incredibly soft and silky. A treatment just for you, with subtle nuances - a truly magical experience for your body.
Le Grand Bleu Massage: This therapy is performed outdoors in the gazebo overlooking the Indian Ocean. The idyllic views inspire relaxation and the healing warmth of the sun intensifies the restorative powers of the massage.
Akhasa Exfoliation and Massage: An Ytsara treatment. White Clay is used in an exfoliating body treatment and is followed by a relaxing massage with essential oils to purify and leave skin feeling soft and firm.
