  • About this holiday

The five-star deluxe Risorgimento Resort in Lecce, Puglia, is immersed in the grand and ancient history of its location, but with the sophistication of a high-quality city hotel. A rooftop restaurant and indulgent spa provide atmospheric places to relax at the hotel, while the Roman amphitheatre, the cathedral, and the plentiful Baroque architecture encourage you to step outside and explore the area. We would highly recommend the Risorgimento Resort for stays of four or five nights in Puglia, giving you time to explore the nearby cities and towns and perhaps head towards Italy’s southern coast.

    Our opinion

The Risorgimento Resort is a valuable addition to our selection of Puglian hotels as it offers a city destination and a new insight into southern Italian life.

    Hotel description

Step into a beautiful historic European mansion at the five-star deluxe Risorgimento Resort in Lecce, Puglia; where history can be felt in every room, seeping in from the stunning city that surrounds it. The hotel dates from 1880, making it the first hotel to open in Lecce, when it stood alongside other opulent and enchanting palaces. A restoration in 2007 took the building back to all its original glory. Today, the modern amenities and flourishes that are expected of a five-star resort enhance the comfort of your stay. The classic stone façade disguises the contemporary dining options within and a very well-equipped spa. The main restaurant, Le Quattro Spezierie, specialises in gourmet gastronomy, built on a seasonal menu crafted for its range of tastes, colours, and aromas. The clean, fresh colours of the neutral decoration keep the focus on the food, and the stone carving, which evokes the shape of an olive branch, points towards the Mediterranean influences. This restaurant also has a rooftop, from which you can see the historic highlights of Lecce: the cathedral and the Roman amphitheatre. For after dinner, or light nibbles, you can relax in the American Bar or Bistro Lounge, where a calm, sophisticated ambience is maintained. Guestrooms have a warm, rich colour scheme, with natural colours, textured wallpaper, and soft leather headboards. On the walls, artwork and sculpture create the look and feel of exposed stone. Juliet balconies at many of the windows ensure that every room capitalises on its city views. The guestrooms make the most of the history of the building and the area, whilst retaining the stylish, cosmopolitan feel that comes with a city hotel. The Salus per Aquam Spa, too, has a very urban feel, with fluid tiled walls and low mood-lighting. Its many specialist facilities include a hammam calidarium, a Turkish bath, multisensory showers, and a simplistic relaxation room. The treatments and massages harness the benefits of thermal products and thalassotherapy, with rejuvenating, purifying, and anti-aging effects. All of these deluxe facilities come together to form a hotel that is built around the combination of relaxation and indulgence, with the captivating history of Lecce and Puglia.
