Our opinion
Sani Beach offers an all-encompassing family holiday, with access to resort-wide facilities that appeal adults and children alike.
Hotel description
Sani Beach (formerly known as Sani
Beach Hotel) is a lovely family-run hotel that sits within 1,000 acres of an
ecological reserve on the Kassandra peninsula in Halkidiki, Greece. Views span
across five miles of welcoming sand, the glorious Mediterranean Sea and towards
Mount Olympus, which can be seen emerging from the sea on the horizon. As part
of Sani Resort, Sani Beach benefits from brilliant resort-wide facilities,
making it a remarkably self-contained holiday destination.
Central to
the Sani Beach is a marvellous lagoon-style swimming pool, which is overlooked
by the hotel on one side and overlooks the sea on the other. This is a
luxurious haven for relaxation, accompanied by glorious sea breezes and the
calming sound of waves. Sun loungers are scattered around this area, in the
shade of exotic palm trees to provide relief from the heat and the perfect
distance to supervise children playing in the pool. The large freeform swimming
pool is a masterpiece of bridges and islands that render it a veritable water
playground for kids to get lost and play in with friends. Bordering the Sani
Beach's grounds is a luxurious 5-mile strip of dazzling sand, where water
sports and beach games can be enjoyed. Shallow waters are excellent for
youngsters to dip their toes, with a lifeguard allowing parents to relax
somewhat in the knowledge that an extra pair of eyes is trained on the waters.
Snacks and drinks can be delivered to sun loungers by the Sani Beach Buddy
service.
Interiors at the Sani Beach are contemporary and
sophisticated, with clean lines, contemporary furnishings and a neutral colour
palette, which construct bright and welcoming public spaces. Having undergone
renovation work in 2010, most rooms have been brought up-to-date. We recommend
the Junior Suites, which provide ample space for two adults and two children in
practical and contemporary surrounds that create a casual home-from-home
atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural light, while
a terrace or balcony extends the living space to make the most of beautiful
views, fresh sea breezes and optimum privacy. However, with all the amenities
from the whole Sani
Resort available to guests, there may be little desire to hide away here.
Sporting activities range from football, archery, aerobics, paintball
and tennis to water sports and even PADI diving facilities. The exclusive Sani
Marina it is the beating heart of the resort and a hub of activity, with its
215 mooring berths that make it superb for those interested in sailing and
water sports. But, featuring shops and restaurants too, the marina is just as
appealing for those looking to explore this remarkably self-contained holiday
destination. For the grown ups, MySpa offers an indulgent spa experience, with
bespoke treatments that use essential oils to aid relaxation. Fitness
facilities, an indoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi, personal trainers and
one-on-one yoga sessions add a personal touch. Meanwhile, children can be
entertained and occupied at one of three children’s clubs: Melissa Crèche Club
for children aged 4 months to 4 years, Melissa Mini Club for ages 4 to 12, and
the Teenager’s Club for 13 to 16 year olds. Sessions are led and supervised by
UK childcare experts, who organise excursions, parties and events that are
suitable to each of the different age brackets.
In the evenings,
Poseidon Restaurant and Veranda Restaurant offer lovely dining experiences –
the former provides a buffet spread, while the latter constructs a dynamic open
kitchen experience. However, guests are not committed to dining within the
hotel’s walls, and the Dine Around programme allows visitors to choose from a
total of sixteen resort-wide restaurants. This means that the whole family can
take it in turns to decide the flavour of the evening; both Greek and
international dishes are produced in kitchens overseen by Michelin-starred
chefs. As a babysitting service is available at Sani Beach (at a charge),
parents can end the day in one of several bars, at a beach party, or even
enjoying a performance at the Garden Theatre.
