Our opinion
Characterful and indulgent luxury on the banks of Lake Geneva.
Hotel description
The five star Le Richemond in Geneva manages to remain somehow sheltered from the bustle of city life whilst remaining at the heart of the culture and vibrancy. The hotel has a very grand exterior façade, with white walls set against red balconies and canopies that match the flags flying on the rooftop. Inside, modern design merges with classical elements to create an opulent, indulgent feel. In Le Jardin, Chef Philippe Bourrel selects seasonal, high quality ingredients to create Swiss classics and fresh modern dishes. In the summer, guests can enjoy the locally sourced fish, meat, and crisp vegetables on La Terrasse, which faces Brunswick Gardens. The dining room itself is a haven of rich colours and luxurious textures, and topical, stylish black and white photography. Evening snacks and drinks can be had in Le Bar, which comes alive with live music on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and is equipped with its very own oyster and caviar bar. Le Spa at Le Richemond is the only Sisley spa in Switzerland, and thus the only spa offering this specific range of treatments inspired by French skincare experts. Accompanying the sauna, steam room, and fitness Techno Gym, are chromotherapy and onaromacology facilities. The sleek, modern environment is complemented by oriental touches, such as the bamboo walls of the corridors, the shimmering black mosaic floors, and the orchid and lotus motifs. Treatments can also be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the lake. Guestrooms at Le Richemond have views across Lake Geneva, the city of Geneva, or the hotel courtyard. The colour scheme is kept simple and elegant, with light grey, blues, purples, and exposed wood. Red cabinets match imprinted logos and flowers to add extra Swiss character. Comfortable furnishings, including satin sofas in some rooms, are given an interesting twist in their unusual, rounded shape, as are the polished wooden desks. Full-length mirrors add to the already abundant space, as do large French doors, which open out onto beautiful wrought iron balconies. Le Richemond’s collection of signature suites ensures a thoroughly unique and luxurious experience. Stay for a few nights or more at Le Richemond in Geneva for a luxury experience unlike any other in Switzerland. The excellent location of this hotel, coupled with the attention to detail in each of the rooms, makes for a perfect opportunity to enjoy the treasures of Geneva.

Out and aboutnearby/local interest
Geneva is a haven for cultural exploration, as well as retail therapy and culinary delights. Workshops, boutiques, and museums all provide an insight into Geneva’s cultural history and the watch-making that it is so well-known for. The Jet d’Eau fountain, as well as being a key landmark, once provided the workshops throughout Geneva with power. For a further taste of cultural history, take a guided tour of the Palais des Nations, the European Headquarters of the UN, or admire the architecture of the Vieille-Villa. The St Pierre Cathedral has 157 steps leading up to the top of its tower. Many contemporary art museums are situated in the Quartier des Bains, and, dotted across the city, are four world-exclusive museums: the Red Cross and Red Crescent, Le Musee International de la Reforme, the Patek Philippe Museum, and the Bodmer Foundation Library and Museum.
