Drive to Hermanus (approximately 2 hours) and stay at Grootbos for 2 nights, a private luxury estate overlooking Walkers Bay. Whilst here you can enjoy guided nature walks, horse riding, 4x4 drives through the magnificent flora and fauna, spotting the marine Big 5 (including whales in season) and spectacular beaches.Days 7 to 8 Hermanus to OutsdhoornAfter breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Outsdhoorn and stay at La Plume for 2 nights (approximately 5 hours). This Victorian homestead is on a working ostrich, alfalfa and vine farm. There are lots of activities on offer for families including bird watching, hiking, cycling and visiting the world’s only meerkat conservation programme. The hotel is close to natural hot springs, nature and wildlife reserves, the Cango Caves and wine estates. Days 9 to 10 Outsdhoorn to Plettenberg Today take the scenic drive down to the coast and onto the Garden Route to Plettenberg (approximately 2 hours) and stay at the Kurland Hotel for 2 nights, a Cape Dutch polo estate with a country house feel. Options for exploring here include the wonderful beaches, a nearby Elephant Sanctuary, Monkey Land, a water park and snake sanctuary. There are plenty of activities for children including riding and it is also possible to learn to play polo. Children under 7 can enjoy riding the Shetland ponies.Days 11 to 13 Plettenberg to Shamwari An early start this morning to drive to your game reserve in the Eastern Cape (approximately 3 hours) for 3 nights. Shamwari Game Reserve is malaria free and renowned for being family friendly with lots of kids’ activities on offer. There are several different style lodges to choose from and on arrival you will be met by the manager or a children’s coordinator to discuss which activities you would like to participate in. Children will love visiting the Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Centre and the Shamwari Wildlife Hospital as well as games, puzzles and educational films back at the lodge.
