Our opinion
Perfect for beachside sports as well as beachside relaxation, the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle is a resort of very high, luxury standards.
Hotel description
A luxury resort on the South Coast of Sri Lanka, the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort is a beautifully exotic oasis near the famous city of Galle. The resort occupies a private rocky outcrop, leaving it undisturbed and with almost exclusive access to a golden sandy beach. Tall palms seclude the hotel villas, and the authenticity of the resort helps it blend in further. Rooms are all decorated in neutral creams, browns, and charcoal, which keeps the focus of the eye on the greens and blues of your garden or ocean view. For an added touch of luxury in these already elegant rooms, stay in one of the many pool villas, where glass doors fold back to let in the gentle sea breeze and fresh, warm air, and entice guests out onto the infinity pool deck. These light, airy, refined accommodations establish a real sense of modern Sri Lanka: dark woods accompany white walls, high quality furnishings, open spaces, and modern amenities. The resort complex, which has the community feel of a small, traditional village, also features a well-equipped and colourful children’s club, in-depth culinary classes with fresh, seasonal ingredients, as well as yoga, meditation, and tai chi sessions on the beach, and a swimming pool surrounded by tropical plants and gardens. In the evenings, dine on Italian, Sri Lankan, or international cuisine in one of the many gourmet restaurants, or enjoy a degustation dinner in the well-stocked and atmospheric wine cellar. Traditional touches such as this are continued in the high tea lounge, which pays homage to Sri Lanka’s tea trade, and in the Ayurvedic Spa, which offers the spa treatments that Sri Lanka is famous for. The name of the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle really summarises the long-standing appeal of this resort, giving potential clients a glimpse into the luxurious beachfront accommodation that could be their home for a few nights of their Sri Lankan touring holiday.

Out and aboutnearby/local interest
Tangalle, in the south of Sri Lanka, has a fairly mild climate and is away from the droves of tourists that circulate Colombo in high season. For this reason, it provides a valuable insight into authentic Sri Lankan life. The main attractions, however, are the water sports: surfing, whale-watching, and scuba-diving. The Anantara Resort organises excursions for its guests to the following locations: Galle city, Yala National Park, Uda Walawe Elephant Sanctuary, Rekawa Turtle Conservation Project, Mulkirigala Rock Temple, Bundala National Park, and the Handunugoda Low County Tea Plantation.
Sports nearby
Surfing, whale- and dolphin-watching, scuba-diving, and other water sports.
Children
Interconnecting rooms are available, though the Two Bedroom Garden Pool Villas are recommended for larger families.
