    Family touring holiday of Andalucía

Andalucía is a region in the south of Spain which spans from the Atlantic Ocean on the west to the popular Costa del Sol on the Mediterranean Sea. Famed for its indulgent climate and coastal appeal, the region’s enigmatic interior also boasts immense variety which families will love. A touring holiday in Andalucía allows you to discover the inland treasures of this region, travelling from city to city and experiencing the region’s unique culture.

We suggest a multi-centre tour that begins in Madrid before taking you on a voyage of discovery through the historic cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville. Each has their own historic charm, and guided tours help you to discover and learn about the civilisations that preceded you along the ancient streets. Spend the first night in Madrid before travelling between three of Andalucía’s great cities: Seville, Córdoba and Granada. These cities are famed for mediaeval Islamic architecture, tapas, bullfighting and flamenco. Kickstart your holiday by flying straight in to Madrid, then commence the rest of your tour with rail travel from city-to-city for speed and convenience.
It is also possible to travel by train all the way from London, although this requires an extra night in Paris at the start and end of your holiday. Please contact us for further details.

    SUGGESTED HOLIDAY
Fly directly into Madrid then travel by rail for the rest of your tour -  a comfortable and inexpensive means of transport. You will stay for two nights in each city, where you can enjoy guided tours, an Andalucian Flamenco Show, a Caliphal dinner and an Iberian ham cutting presentation. At the end of your holiday fly back to London from Granada.

    DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
    Day one: Arrive Madrid
Fly from London to Madrid, then spend the the first day at leisure to enjoy the sights and attractions of the city with its many attractive plaza and museums. Spend one night in the five-star Hospes Madrid.
    Day two: Madrid to Córdoba
Leave Madrid at 9am and take the train to Córdoba, arriving just over two hours later. Check in to the five-star Hospes Palacio del Bailio for two nights, and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
    Day three: Córdoba
Spend the day exploring Córdoba, a city which is set on the Guadalquivir River at the heart of rural Andalucía. The city has beautiful winding lanes, many historical attractions, restaurants and nightlife. From mid-April to mid-June the city is full of flowers. A shared tour is included to Córdoba’s mosque – the largest Islamic structure in Western Europe and a UNESCO protected site. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Córdoba. A romantic “Caliphal” dinner is also included, served in the intimate ambiance of the Senzone restaurant. The starter is an exclusive selection of Tapas, followed by a tasting menu of typical Andalusian dishes as the main course. Dessert, coffee and mineral water are included, while wine and other alcoholic beverages cost extra.

    Day five: Seville
Spend the day exploring Seville, the capital of Andalucía and Spain’s fourth largest city. The centre is formed of a maze of narrow lanes and hidden plazas. Key attractions in Seville are its flamenco, art and architecture which includes Roman, Islamic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque influences. A two and a half hour shared guided tour of Seville is included, which visits the main sights of the Barrio de Santa Cruz. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Seville. An introductory presentation on Iberian ham and ham cutting is also included in Seville.
    Day six: Seville to Granada

The Alhambra is the key attraction – it started as a 9th century fortress and over successive centuries was changed and added to with palaces, mosques and churches. It is now a UNESCO world heritage site. A shared tour of the Alhambra is included in your rail holiday, this includes visits to the Royal Palaces, Gardens and Carlos V’s Palace. You have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Granada, before enjoying an authentic Andalusian Flamenco show, which is also included in your holiday.
