Hotel holidays in Mauritius for all seasons

A selection of our favourite luxury resorts in Mauritius
Golf, tennis, deep-sea fishing, diving, and water sports are invariably superb across the island, which is just 42 miles long and 29 miles wide. In addition to the white-sand beaches and reef-protected sapphire blue waters, the countryside, with its jagged mountain peaks and sugar-cane clad lowlands, offers a very appealing backdrop to any luxury holiday. There are numerous places to visit if you want to explore the capital, Port Louis, which has its own Chinatown, a busy market, and traditional colonial architecture, as well as hiking trails that lead into the Black River Gorges National park, towards spectacular waterfalls, tea, and spice plantations. Let us introduce you to this beautiful island in the Indian Ocean or, as many of our clients have, let us keep taking you back there!
Lux* Le Morne
LUX* Le Morne is a charming five star resort on the south-western, sunset ridge of Mauritius. A long beachfront separates the rooms from the ocean, and the stunning Le Morne Mountain plays the part of spectacular backdrop. In amongst preened and landscaped gardens, four swimming pools, secluded seating areas, and shady, romantic hotel rooms are hidden away. The pretty, chalet-style accommodation faces the sea, optimising the verandas for peaceful afternoons spent reading a book or simply enjoying the view. It is the junior suites that are closest to the beach, with porches and decks that open up through the trees onto the sand; in an unrivalled position, these rooms are definitely worth the difference in price. The LUX* Le Morne resort has a romantic elegance, and is situated in a beautiful corner of Mauritius, pleasantly untouched by the hand of commercial tourism, thus retaining a real, authentic charm. Prices range from around £1,490 per person for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, including flights and private transfers.
Shanti Maurice
Offering a genuinely Mauritian experience, the Shanti Maurice sits between the island’s lush mountains and the ocean and is a boutique lifestyle resort with an award-winning spa. With just 61 suites and villas, Shanti is an intimate resort, yet occupies a stunning beachfront and 36 acres of tropical grounds. The use of native and local materials has ensured that the accommodation at Shanti Maurice captures guests in a bubble of Mauritian life. The culinary flavours served in the three restaurants are imaginative and of an outstanding quality; when combined with the extensive available spa treatments and complimentary water sports, the dining at the Shanti Maurice reiterates the high standards of luxury and service on offer. With so much variety on offer, families, couples, and groups of friends are all well looked after. Prices range from around £1,990 per person for 7 nights on a full board basis, including flights and private transfers.
The Residence
The Residence is a five star, elegant, calm, stylish, and sophisticated resort on a glorious stretch of white sandy beach on the east coast of Mauritius. The hotel combines a sleek contemporary style with modern colonial architectural touches, as well as the echoes of the Orient in the wooden Indian carvings, and the vibrant splashes of colour in the abundant tropical plants. Mature gardens of palms and flowers link the buildings, the beach, the pool, and the dining areas together. There is a choice of restaurants for guests; meander through the palm trees to the aptly-name Plantation Restaurant and dine on seafood and Creole cuisine, enjoy an a la carte lunch in the Verandah Restaurant beside the pool, or sample Indian, Chinese, and Creole inspired creations in the refined ambience of the Dining Room. Water sports are offered from the hotel’s beach, ensuring endless fun and exploration for guests of all ages, and the Sanctuary Spa, inspired by Zen philosophy, is available to those looking to take in the serenity of the Mauritius landscape. Prices range from around £1,810 per person for 9 nights on a half board basis, including flights and transfers.
Shangri-La Le Touessrok
The five star Le Touessrok was re-opened in 2015 after extensive refurbishment, under the new management of Shangri-La. What has not changed, however, is its dramatic and treasured location, straddling the mainland and Frangipani Island, and with two islands offshore: Ilot Mangenie, a private island for hotel guests only, and Ile aux Cerfs, with its water sports and golf course. With a distinctly Mediterranean aspect, the white-washed walls are topped with traditional Mauritian thatched roofs. The interiors have been redecorated and refurbished, giving the spacious rooms and junior suites a more subtle luxuriousness, while further emphasising the rich colours of the area in the fabrics and carved wooden screens. Dining is of a high standard, particularly because of the great variety in the Bazar, a restaurant made unique by its show kitchen and market-place ambience. Prices range from around £1,690 per person for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, including flights and transfers.
