Fly-drive touring holidays of Spain

Travelling to Spain by air is an obvious and popular way to travel. With daily, frequent, scheduled flights from London and other regional airports to major Spanish cities and a flying time of about two and a half hours, this is a quick and easy way to start your touring holiday of Spain. Our fly-drive touring holidays include scheduled flights with British Airways. This allows our clients to choose the departure date and holiday duration, with the possibility of the Club Europe premium cabin. Wherever these scheduled airlines fly from and to, we can offer you their services. If there is no direct flight from your local airport, we offer a connecting flight with British Airways at a small supplement. A popular option for touring holidays is to fly into one airport and back from another and this is offered by Expressions Holidays as a matter of course for holidays that start and end in different places. A hire-car is essential for many, but not all, of our hotel stays in most regions of Spain. We include a hire-car for most holidays as it is a cost-effective means of getting from the airport to your hotel and back and provides the means to explore the area during your holiday. We include a basic group A car with Avis with all our fly-drive holidays to Spain. This is usually a Peugeot 107 or similar with air-conditioning which is adequate for just two people, a short break or if you don’t intend to do much driving. However, you might want to upgrade to something larger or more powerful.

Rail-drive touring holidays of Spain

A rail-drive touring holiday to Spain is a rewarding way to combine the experience of a rail journey from London to Spain, perhaps taking the train from London to San Sebastian or London to Barcelona, and then to be able to explore with the use of the hire-car, returning by train from the same or a different station.

Rail touring holidays in Spain

A rail touring holiday within Spain works very well. You fly to a Spanish city, for example Madrid, and then take the train from place to place. Typical combinations might be Madrid, Cordoba, Granada and Seville, or Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona.

Self-drive touring holidays to Spain

A self-drive touring holiday to Spain is a popular option, especially as it is possible to travel by ferry to northern Spain with your own car. Brittany Ferries offers weekly ferries from Plymouth to Santander (journey time around 20 hours), twice weekly ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao (journey time around 24 hours) and twice weekly ferries from Portsmouth to Santander (journey time around 24 hours). It is also possible to travel between Spanish islands by ferry, for example in the Canary Islands where travelling between the islands by ferry is a popular way to travel. We have a suggested touring holiday of the Canaries that includes ferry travel and the use of a hire-car for the holiday.
