Luxury bepoke holidays to Coco Reef, Tobago
Coco Reef stands at the end of a long avenue of palms in its own grounds on the white-sand Coconut Bay, where the hotel boasts the only private beach on the island. To the west of the resort is Store Bay and to the east is world-famous Pigeon Point. Conceived as a resort truly Caribbean in style and flavour, in its execution Coco Reef does not disappoint. The hotel lobby, its lofty ceilings accommodating 30-foot bamboo palms, greets you with magnificent views of the sea. Banana plants and other exotic shrubs abound, creating a dramatic effect against the softly coloured walls and white fretwork. A majestic staircase curves up to the unique Gallery Bar. Throughout the hotel's public areas the Caribbean feel is maintained with fretwork, trellises, vines and palms, whilst heliconia and alamandas, pink and purple bougainvillaea and orange hibiscus add vibrant splashes of colour. Coconut Bay offers good swimming and calm water for children. Days can be spent here or by the pool, or treating yourself to a beauty programme in the spa. When you're tired of languishing, you can try your hand at tennis, snorkelling or scuba diving. Afternoon tea or a Caribbean cocktail can be enjoyed in the Gallery Bar, or perhaps a champagne aperitif in Bobsters intimate champagne bar. For dinner you have a choice of Tamaras, an elegant but casual restaurant serving international specialities based on local ingredients, or Bacchanals, where you dine on a seaside deck under the stars. The bedrooms at Coco Reef are spacious and comfortable, in traditional Caribbean style with hand-crafted wicker furniture and wall stencils. All rooms have saltillo-tiled balcony or terrace. Sunset Villa, perched on the edge of a promontory, overlooks the sea and is a perfect spot for honeymoon stays - please contact us for prices. Coco Reef has the architectural feel of a grand hotel with the ambience of a relaxed, cosy and friendly resort. Suitable for families and couples.

Luxury bepoke holidays to Coco Reef, Tobago
About Tobago
An Expressions tailor-made holiday to Tobago is the chance to explore a typical picture-postcard Caribbean island with white sand beaches, palm fringed, bordering turquoise blue waters. Quite laid-back, relaxed and friendly, Tobago offers beautiful beaches, rainforest interiors like much of the Windward Islands, good water sports, some of the best diving in the Caribbean and an easy-going environment for a luxury beach holiday. If you venture away from the wonderful beaches you will still see the signs of the plantation island Tobago once was at places such as Moriah and Les Coteaux. Tobago still has traditional Caribbean fishing villages at Castara and Parlatuvier towards the north east of the island. Tobago is an excellent island for a relaxing beach holiday but also worthwhile combining with a livelier and island such as Barbados.
Highlights of Tobago
Carnival culminating with Mardi Gras, Carrington Street in Scarborough with its rum shops and roti stands, the fishing villages of Castara and Parlatuvier, Jemma’s classic West Indian kitchen on the waterfront in Speyside (no alcohol served), Pigeon Point beach and sunset-watching from the quay, Buccoo Reef for snorkellers and scuba divers, Mauby is a local drink like ginger beer, Carib and Stag are the local beers, Roti - often spicy due to the Indian origins of many Trinidadians and filled with vegetable, chicken or shrimp curry, handicrafts such as batik and paintings at the Cotton House, Bacolet Street.
Travel around Tobago
The roads in the south and west of the island are fine but become less well maintained in the north and east and there are parts of the island that are only accessible in the dry season and only then by 4-wheel drive vehicles. You can hire cars and jeeps as well as mountain bikes. The island is well worth exploring but take a good map and check locally before you venture into more remote parts about the quality of the roads.
