Soneva Fushi is a first-class, world-renowned private island resort, full of eclectic style and barefoot luxury, which thoroughly complements its stunning natural surroundings on the Maldivian island of Kunfunadhoo. At 1,400 metres long and about 400 metres wide, Kunfunadhoo is one of the largest islands in the Maldives, and Soneva Fushi's architects have worked carefully to combine the luxury of space, easy beach access and privacy. The island is large enough to explore and really get away from it all, perhaps by bicycle or along the hidden jogging trails that criss-cross luxuriant tropical vegetation. The 65 spacious rooms have thick white-washed walls, wooden or sandstone floors, beamed ceilings, thatched roofs and are furnished with stylishly rustic chairs and tables. Rattan and coconut wood hide modern-day conveniences such as the safe, hairdryer and hi-fi. The colours are natural, with shades of cinnamon and turmeric adding pinches of spice to the whites and browns. The rooms are all just a few steps from the beach. The island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon of clear turquoise water enclosed by a coral reef, providing an ideal venue for snorkelling and diving as well as a range of other water sports. The dining experience here at Soneva Fushi is also suitably eclectic, with a combination of superb cuisine served in the main restaurant but also in your villa, on the sandbank, on the beach or on a boat. Flavours too are a combination of western and oriental, northern and southern hemisphere and with great emphasis on the cuisine of the Maldives, using fresh local fish with Thai and Sri Lankan influences.
