Surrounded by the dazzling turquoise of the Indian Ocean, W Retreat & Spa sits on small Fesdu Island in the North Ari Atoll. Opened in September 2006, this beach oasis aims not to have any negative impact on the flora and fauna of the island. The resort is made up of 78 villas, 28 of them set on the beach and 50 over the sea, allowing guests to appreciate the sublime beauty of the situation. The villas all feature a W Signature Bed, custom-made furnishings, plunge pools, a 'munchie box' and a wine fridge, ensuring optimum comfort and luxury. Combining the traditional architectural styles of a dhow and the pure lines of contemporary design, the overwater Away Spa allows guests to relax with therapies from Thailand and India brought together with modern techniques and technologies. Guests can also make use of the Sweat fitness centre and the peaceful library. The resort's dive centre, Down Under, allows you to explore the awe-inspiring underwater life in the beautiful lagoon. Water plays an important role throughout the resort, especially so in Wet, the pool bar. This combines a wet and dry pool bar so that guests can swim indoors and outside, enjoy a relaxed poolside meal, or drink in the lounge as the sun sets. Guests are able to choose from three restaurants, including the romantic Fire, which takes its influence from a jungle barbecue and where bare feet are encouraged. This is an incredibly stylish yet luxurious and comfortable resort with much to offer.

The journey and how you get there
For a holiday to W Retreat & Spa, the Maldives, Expressions Holidays includes flights from London to Male with British Airways direct (winter season only) or Emirates via Dubai. The flying time is about 13 hours. W Retreat and Spa is reached from Male airport by seaplane in about 25 minutes and Expressions Holidays includes the seaplane transfer in your holiday price.

Minimum stays: Minimum stay of 2 nights applies year-round. There is a 5 night minimum stay between 24 December and 5 January in Wonderful Beach Oasis, Overwater Oasis and Lagoon Oasis. There is a 7 night minimum stay between those dates for the WOW Ocean Escape and Ocean Haven.
Children: Two children under the age of 12 can stay for free on a bed and breakfast basis when sharing a villa with 2 paying adults. Children are not advised to be accommodated in over water accommodation.
