Luxury bespoke holidays and tours to Bastide de Gordes, Gordes
The five-star Bastide de Gordes is set on high ground in inland Provence. Its historic stone buildings stand tall, atop the verdant jagged bluffs of Gordes. The buildings, terraces, and swimming pools, are spread across the staggered hillside, ensuring that each one has stunning views out across the Luberon and the Alpilles. As unique as the stepped grounds, the interior spaces of the hotel are lavishly decorated and opulent. Rich fabrics of deep reds and greens are paired with delicate golden chandeliers, tall windows, classical paintings, and traditional tiled floors. Arched windows look out onto grassy pathways that stretch the length of each of the steps, with creeping plants falling down from the terraces above. The outdoor pools are lined with parasols and loungers, as well as woven planters and water features. Your first impressions are crafted by the painted beamed ceiling, elaborate glass jewels of the lights, and the satin sofa of the reception room. Restaurants at the hotel include La Citadelle outdoor terrace, which captures the magic of Provence every evening. Under a rattan canopy is La Bastide de Pierres, a more casual, Italian-themed alfresco restaurant. Or, on white-clothed tables, under plentiful fruit trees on one of the many terraces, is L'Orangerie restaurant. Each restaurant offers a unique and charming experience that cannot be had elsewhere. A corridor of arches, with exposed white stone and iron lanterns, leads you into the Sisley Spa; a haven of light, white marble, and cushioned loungers beside the hazy indoor pool. Enjoy a treatment on a canopied bed in one of the treatment rooms, or in the open air on one of the leafy terraces. The guestrooms are adorned with wooden-panels or detailed papers on the walls, ornate rugs on wooden floors, and very traditional paintings on the walls. The style oozes classical luxury. Floral upholstery in reds, browns, and purples covers the stools and bed frames. In the bathrooms, claw-footed bathtubs provide a very personal, homely place to relax. The green views outside the windows enhance the romantic feel of the hotel. Younger guests at La Bastide de Gordes are just as spoilt for choice as their parents. The Children's Kingdom offers green areas to play, a private swimming pool, a games room, and a daily brunch served on a terrace.

The journey and how you get there
For a holiday to La Bastide de Gordes, our clients fly to Marseille or Nice and then usually have the use of a hire-car for the duration of the holiday, or they arrive in their own car on a self-drive holiday, often as part of a multi-centre touring holiday (we would include a Eurotunnel crossing or a ferry crossing, depending on the itinerary), or they arrive by train, having taken the Eurostar London to Paris or Lille, and then the TGV to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence or Nice. On some dates there is a direct service of the Eurostar from London to Avignon.
