Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Chateau de Valmer, St Tropez, Provence
The story of this 5-star boutique hotel dates from 1949 when the mansion was bought by a family who ran it and the nearby building as a guest house. The Chateau occupies five acres of Mediterranean land, linked by an avenue of palm trees to the sea and flanked by the vines of an organic vineyard. Secreted amongst palms, trees, colourful shrubs, roses, hydrangeas and vines is the main house and two tree houses as well as two private houses for rental. The size of the hotel affords an intimacy enhanced by the charm of the original building, where the decoration is that of Provence, yet chic and sophisticated with the use of natural floors of tiles and parquet and furnishings that reflect the colours of Provence. The Chateau de Valmer offers a choice of dining with the Michelin-starred Palmeraie restaurant and a pool restaurant. The Palmeraie serves a gourmet menu yet rich in Provencal flavours in the garden or on the terrace. In the summer, from June to September, there is also the Bistro du Chateau, where local and fresh products are served on the terrace facing the park. The Chateau de Valmer offers a wide choice of room types, many of which are designed for family groups of between 4 and 6 persons. If you’re a couple, then a superior room with garden view many of which are ground floor with terrace or on an upper floor with balcony, will probably suit you well. A junior suite offers more spacious accommodation for you. All rooms have natural floors and soft furnishings that are both subtle and reflective of the region. A special feature of the Chateau de Valmer are the two treehouses: Squirrels and Rabbits. Both perch in old oak trees above the ground, Squirrels at 8 metres and Rabbits at 3 metres. A back to nature experience offered within the grounds of a luxury hotel. The hotel has an indoor pool for adults and a spa, and a free-form heated outdoor pool. About 500 metres from the Chateau de Valmer is the private beach at the sister-hotel, La Pinede Plage. There is a shuttle to carry you in between if you don’t want to walk. Here you’ll find a beach bar, water sports and nearby, a tennis court. The Chateau de Valmer offers tremendous value as a 5-star hotel with its Michelin-star restaurant in its country-estate near the sea surroundings in the St-Tropez peninsula.
