Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Domaine de la Tortinière , Loire Valley France
The Domaine de la Tortinière is a 4-star luxury, boutique, chateau-hotel with a total of 32 rooms and suites. This gem of a chateau became a hotel in 1955 and it has been owned and managed by the same family ever since. The acres of parkland that surround the chateau are home to the extraordinary cyclamen which creates a beautiful carpet of pink and white between the months of August and December. The grounds are also home to two-hundred year-old Lebanese Cedars, Redwoods and many other specimen trees. In addition to the main chateau building are various outbuildings that also house some of the bedrooms: the Renaissance chalet, the Pressoir, the Tilleuls and the Vieux Logis. In the lawn below the chateau, you’ll find the swimming pool and sun terrace and set to the other side of the chateau in the shady park is the tennis court. The restaurant, L’Orangerie, is landscaped into the parkland below the main chateau building and has panoramic windows that afford views of the valley of the River Indre. The two chefs are inspired by the traditional cuisine of France to produce gastronomic delights based on local produce such as Marigny Marmande truffel, Racan pigeon, Rivarennes dried pear and aged cheeses from Rodolphe le Meunier. As well as a gourmet cuisine, the guest can also choose from a bistrot-style menu and there is also a vegan menu. The sommelier will guide you through the many fine wines that the Touraine produces and that are available here. The rooms and suites vary in size and location within the hotel; some are situated in the main building (no lift) and some in the converted outbuildings which are no more than about 60 metres from the main chateau. All rooms have air-conditioning and are furnished in a mixture of classical and contemporary style, with pieces of antique furniture from the region, and with fine fabrics. There are family suites that can accommodate between 4 and 6 people. As a haven of relaxation after days visiting the local sights and places of interest, the Domaine de la Tortinière has not only the outdoor pool and tennis court, but a small spa and well-being centre, a table tennis table and billiard room. The chateau is family-friendly, having not only the family suite as accommodation, but ample outdoor activities available in the park including toys and bicycles. The restaurant also has a special children’s menu to choose from. The Domaine de la Tortinière is very well-placed to give you a superb range of activities within a short drive, from the old town and cathedral of Tours to the wine routes of the Loire Valley and, of course, the most famous chateaux of the region just a short distance away.
