The Grand Hotel de Cala Rossa in Corsica is approached along a coastal road north of the attractive port and old town of Porto-Vecchio. The interior and the atmosphere of the hotel are quite delightful, a fact which is only fully appreciated after you enter the beautifully tiled reception area with its hues of green and terracotta, dotted with plants and flowers. From here a small courtyard of trees and flowers is shaded by umbrellas and leads through the bar/lounge and out into the pine-tree shaded garden, from where you glimpse the turquoise sea in the sheltered bay beyond. The verdant garden descends onto a narrow beach of white sand lapped by the clear turquoise water. Simple, colourful furniture - painted wooden chests, bright paintings, wooden shutters and beams - creates an unusual yet stylish feel: modern but in keeping with the proximity of the sea. The restaurant at The Grand Hotel de Cala Rossa is simple and prettily decorated in shades of pink with white. The 33 bedrooms and 9 suites are on three floors, and those with mobility difficulties should note that there is no lift in the hotel. Some rooms have been renovated in a contemporary style, whilst others have a more traditional Mediterannean feel. Most rooms have a terrace either overlooking the gardens or facing the sea, although rooms do not have a direct sea view as there is a pine wood between the hotel and the sea. Slightly out of season, say October, is ideal if you want to spend some time on the beach and also tour the island. The Grand Hotel de Cala Rossa near Porto-Vecchio, a Relais & Chateaux property, attracts many regulars so early booking is essential.

The journey and how you get there
For a holiday to Grand Hotel de Cala Rossa, our clients fly to Figari and then usually have the use of a hire-car for the duration of the holiday, especially if you are staying in more than one place. If you are staying at one hotel only, you might prefer a private car transfer instead of a hire-car. We will arrange this for you.
