Luxury bespoke hotel holidays to Villa Clarisse, Ile de Ré, Atlantic Coast
The Villa Clarisse is a boutique, 4-star, Relais & Chateaux member with just nine rooms and suites, renovated meticulously and launched as an hotel in 2011. The original house dates from the 18th Century and was the birthplace of Ferdinand Auguste Lapasset, a general in the French army. Today the Villa Clarisse combines modern comforts for rest and relaxation with the authentic charm of a typical regional house of the Ile de Ré. The Villa Clarisse benefits from its location in the old town, but with a beautiful garden of lawns and beds, where you find the outdoor heated swimming pool (also available to guests of the sister-hotel, the Hotel de Toiras). Light lunches are served here in the garden. The harbour and the Hotel de Toiras with its fine-dining restaurant are about three minutes’ walk away. The church of Saint-Martin-de-Ré is two steps from the Villa Clarisse. The bedrooms and suites of the villa are light and breezy reflecting the mood and the colours of the island. Whites and other neutral shades enhanced by splashes of dark blue create a restful ambience. Valet parking can be arranged for you at a cost of Euros 20 per day. The size of the house makes it ideal for a private let, perhaps for a family or function, up to a maximum of twenty guests.
Room descriptions
The Villa Clarisse has 4 rooms and 5 suites, each with bathroom with bathtub and shower, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, complimentary WiFi, flat screen television, mini-bar, safety deposit box, individually controlled air-conditioning, writing desk.

About Bordeaux Region
An Expressions tailor-made holiday to Bordeaux is a chance to explore a region renowned the world over for its wines and its awe-inspiring chateaux, whilst Cognac is less explored yet holds a countless store of treasures waiting to be appreciated. The Bordeaux region is ideal for short breaks and touring holidays with a range of sights to discover. Cognac country is a perfect destination for the discerning traveller as it is still relatively unknown yet is within very easy reach of more popular areas such as the coastal resorts between La Rochelle and Royan about 30 minutes` drive to the west, the Medoc and Saint Emilion vineyards about 45 minutes` drive to the south and the intriguing Marais Poitevin about an hour`s drive to the north. Moreover, the cuisine has a character of its own, utilising cognac, pineau and Marennes oysters. A holiday to the Bordeaux and Cognac regions is highly recommended. A fantastic way to discover the region is to incorporate it into a self-drive touring holiday, flying to Bordeaux and then exploring this area as well as the Basque Country and Carcassonne by hire-car. It is also accessible by train, such as in our suggested rail holiday travelling to the Loire Valley and Bordeaux which also allows you to explore by hire-car.
Highlights of Bordeaux
Visit vineyards and chateaux, for tasting and buying. Visit the oyster beds. Experience the Cognac distilleries, and the Romanesque architecture. Bordeaux is the historical centre for wine however you may also visit the villages of the wine region such as St Emilion.
